Organ Recital

Everyone is welcome to an organ recital performed by Italian organist Marco Lo Musico . It will be taking place in the Nave and St Hugh’s Choir of the Cathedral. Tickets will be available on the door for £5.00.

Biography

Marco Lo Muscio is one of the most versatile musicians of his generation: organist, pianist and composer. Marco is also the Italian collaborator of John and Steve Hackett (Genesis). He graduated in piano with full honours “Cum Laude” at “Licinio Refice” academy of music guided by Maestro Tonino Maiorani, and later studied for three years with the great pianist Sergio Fiorentino attaining the Diploma of Advanced Studies with full honours at the academy “Bartolomeo Cristofori”. He also graduated in Pedagogy “Cum Laude“, guided by prof. Giulio Sforza, in the University of “Rome Tre” and in organ with prof. James Edward Goettsche.  He has given more than 700 concerts as part of organ and piano festivals at important venues such as: Shostakovich Great Hall and Glinka Capella in St. Petersburg; International Music Arts Centre (Svetlanov Hall), Gnessin Academy and Catholic Cathedral in Moscow; Westminster Cathedral in London, Hull City Hall, Canterbury, Lincoln, Lichfield, Chester, Blackburn, Norwich, Coventry, St. Giles, Rochester, Gloucester, Truro, St. David and Sheffield Cathedrals in UK ; Kings College in Cambridge, Queen and Exeter College in Oxford; St. Nicholas Church in Leipzig, Magdeburg Cathedral, Riga Cathedral, St. Nicholas in Tallinn, St. Nicholas in Prague, Uppsala Cathedral, Göteborg Cathedral, Søro Festival, the Church of the Queen of Denmark in Copenhagen, Memorial Chapel in Glasgow, Turku Cathedral, Church of the Rock in Helsinki,  Landsberg Festival, Oliwa Festival in Poland, Piacenza Festival, Clemintina Chapel in Vatican and many others venues.

Marco’s music is published by the Italian firm “Erreffe Musica”, and has been played by renowned musicians such as: Christopher Herrick, John Hackett, Stephen Farr, Kevin Bowyer, David Briggs, John Scott, Roger Sayer, Andrew Canning, Aivars Kalejs, Alessandro Bianchi, Massimo Nosetti, Martin Setchell, Michael Eckerle, Fredrik Sixten, Johannes Skudlik, Carson Cooman, etc…The CDs of Marco were broadcast on Vatican Radio, BBC, TV2000, TV Russia…

Marco has specialized not only in the classical repertoire but his transcriptions and arrangements of contemporary jazz and Progressive Music brought him into contact with big historical names such as Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson, David Jackson, John and Steve Hackett. From these contacts are born albums such as “The Book of Bilbo and Gandalf” (dedicated to Tolkien), and his latest CD “Playing the History” recorded with John and Steve Hackett and David Jackson.
