Baby Loss Awareness Week: 9-15 October 2022

To mark the 20th anniversary of Baby Loss Awareness Week, Lincoln Cathedral will be lit pink and blue on Saturday 15 October.

Throughout the week there will be a chapel set aside within the south transept of the Cathedral for those who wish to have some space to come and remember. This chapel, dedicated to St Ann, has been a place set aside for those concerned with motherhood since the mediaeval period. In the chapel there will be the following ways of reflecting and offering prayers:

  • Lighting a candle;
  • Placing a name on a Prayer Tree; or
  • Just sitting in the stillness of this place of prayer

There will also be chaplains available throughout much of the week, with the Cathedral’s own duty chaplains being joined by experienced members of the team from United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust who will be available at the following times:

  • Wednesday 12 and Friday 14 October between 10am and 2pm.

The end of the week, on Saturday 15 October, will be marked during the cathedral’s daily lunchtime Eucharist service – which takes place at the Shrine of St Hugh (at the eastern end of the Cathedral) at 12.30pm. In this service the names that have been left on the Prayer Tree will be offered in silent prayer. Anyone who wishes is welcome to join this quiet and simple service as we reflect on the love that God has for all.
