CATCH – Community Art Technology and Craft Hub is an opportunity for your community group to immerse your creativity into themes of Lincoln Cathedral. Whether you are a camera club, Adult Learners group, knitting group, youth club, or U3A  – any community group can apply to participate in our next theme. After selection, we will work with you to produce artwork to be displayed either digitally or on site.

Lincoln Cathedral – A year in the life of the Cathedral Picture: Chris Vaughan Photography for Lincoln Cathedral Date: November 13, 2018

Two CATCH projects have happened this year already, one digital, REFLECT:CONNECT, using inspiration from the coloured sections of the beautiful Bishop’s Eye window. And the other, Spring Meadow, uses the newly opened Cathedral gardens, the Dean’s Green, as a catalyst for 3-D artwork to be displayed in the Cathedral.

Rob Pitman of Paradigm Arts says: “Paradigm Arts have been working to support Lincoln Cathedral’s launch of their exciting CATCH initiative and have been working with schools to develop and showcase a range of artistic reactions to life in lockdown. The REFLECT:CONNECT project brings together and celebrates the work of communities, schools and families and is a great way of sharing the creativity that has been inspired during these unprecedented and challenging times“.

Our second CATCH project was in partnership with 3rd Lincoln Brownies.
Their project linked with the family activities in May Half Term which included a Dragonfly Trail, a giant 3D ‘Spring Meadow’. Visitors could also make and add their home-made ‘bugs’ to the display.
Feedback
Kaye Robinson, their leader says: “3rd Lincoln Brownies were delighted to be chosen to take part in the CATCH programme. The girls enjoyed all aspects of the project, researching the newly opened Deans Green, looking at wild meadows in books and online and then building their collage.

The brownies haven’t met for over a year due to Covid-19 so to spend their first few weeks back exploring their locality and making this collage has been brilliant. As we are all from uphill Lincoln we feel really proud to have our work displayed in a place that means a lot to us. The girls particularly enjoyed learning about the Deans Eye Window within the Cathedral and using all their best artistic skills to bring the Spring Meadow to life”.
