Medieval manuscripts are among the oldest and most exquisitely beautiful treasures housed at Lincoln Cathedral.

Manuscript Page Adoptions play an important role in helping to protect these works of art. Adopting a Manuscript Page at Lincoln Cathedral makes for a perfect gift or memorial and supports the on-going conservation and restoration of these treasures. Manuscript Pages are available from just £25 and there are a variety of adoption opportunities for you to choose from:

When you adopt a Manuscript Page, you will receive an Adoption Pack containing an image of your page, an adoption certificate and a dedication certificate in either your or the recipient's name. These will be sent out as soon as possible by the Librarian following your adoption.

Did you know?
If you adopt an Illuminated Page, you will also be offered a complimentary Fellow membership of Lincoln Cathedral for a year - usually worth £120. To find out more about the benefits of this membership, please click here.

There's more
In addition to the Manuscript Page adoptions highlighted here, we also have a range of medieval manuscripts that are available for full sponsorship, starting at £2,000. Should you wish to find out more about these, please contact the Grants & Donations Office on 01522 561614 or email and we will be happy to discuss the current availability with you.

All donations made in aid of the 'Adopt a Page From a Manuscript' scheme will go towards the Library Fund.

Gift Aid

The Government allows charities to claim back tax on donations. This tax relief is called Gift Aid.

Gift Aid means charities get extra money added to their donations at no extra cost to the donor. For every £1 donated, the charity currently receives £1.25 when you add Gift Aid.

Please notify us if you:

  • Want to cancel this declaration
  • Change your name or home address
  • No longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains.

If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.
