With the opening two nights of the Hunchback of Notre Dame under their belts, the Starring Lincoln Theatre Company has doubled down on its ambition to collect more than four-tonnes of food for Lincoln Foodbank.

In partnership with Lincoln Cathedral, the company has launched a prize draw, with 20 pairs of tickets to the show on offer to those who bring a donation of non-perishable foods for Lincoln foodbank to the Cathedral.

Everyone attending the show is invited to bring a contribution for the foodbank and the appeal has now been broadened out to encourage more people across the city and beyond to help ensure that Lincoln Foodbank has adequate stocks to continue helping the increasing number of people in need of their services.

Anyone bringing a donation of non-perishable food to the collection point in the nave of the Cathedral between now and 10.30am on Tuesday 31 May, can complete an entry form to be entered into the prize draw. Ten people will be chosen at random to receive a pair of tickets for the performance on Thursday 2 June, with another ten pairs on offer to the show on Friday 3 June.

Ben Poole, director of Starring Lincoln Theatre Company said that it was more important than ever to support food banks, “Over the past few years, food banks have become an unwanted but essential lifeline for many people in our communities, and with the current cost of living crisis, food banks are struggling to cope with the demand. Every donation of food, no matter how small will help a family who are currently facing extreme hardship.

“We were so grateful to be able to support Lincoln Foodbank with our 2019 production of Oliver! and we hope that with the continued support and generosity of the people of Lincoln that we will be able to do the same again.”

Contributions of non-perishable food can be dropped off at the Cathedral anytime during normal opening hours. To enter the draw for tickets, simply bring your food donation, and complete a form with your name and contact details.

Winners will be drawn at random at 10.30am on Tuesday 31 May, and the lucky winners will be notified later on the same day.
