From time to time it is necessary for us to restrict access to certain areas of the Cathedral; this can be due to a number of reasons including services, event or maintenance.

Details of any current restrictions can be found below.

COVID-19

Due to national restrictions in place, from Thursday 5 November 2020, Lincoln Cathedral is open for private prayer only – visits for other reasons are currently not permitted.

To help keep visitors, staff and volunteers as safe as possible during the current pandemic, some areas of the Cathedral are not currently open. They include:
– The Treasury
– Service Chapels
– Works Chapels
– Medieval and Wren libraries
– The Refectory Cafe

There are also currently no roof and tower tours taking place, due to the space limitations in those areas of the Cathedral.

Please follow the one way system in place.

These restricted areas are subject to change at short notice, so if there is a specific part of the Cathedral you would like to see, we encourage you to check this page regularly, or call our Visitor Services team on 01522 561600.
