There are several days where access to the Cathedral will be restricted due to events taking place. If this is the case, these dates can be found below.

 

Holy Week

Tuesday 16 April 2019

11am

Sung Eucharist With the Blessing of the Oils and the Renewal of Vows

Access to the Nave of the Cathedral will be restricted between 10am and 1pm to those attending the above service. Visitors may view St Hugh’s Choir, The Shrine of St Hugh and the Cloisters by entering by the Judgement Door on the South side of the building, please ask a steward for directions.

 

Friday 19 April 2019 – Good Friday

Access for prayer and worship only.

Our Lord Jesus Christ was executed by crucifixion on this day. His selfless death reconciled humanity to God and to each other, making it a uniquely good and holy day.

Until 3.30pm the Cathedral is open for prayer and worship only:

9.30am – Liturgy of the Cross        

12noon – 3pm – Three Hours Devotion    

5.30pm – Evening Prayer

Entry to services is via the Galillee porch on the south side of the Cathedral.

The Cathedral will be open to visitors between 3.30pm and 6pm.

 

Sunday 21 April 2019 – Easter Day

Services

7.45am Litany St Hugh’s Choir

8am Holy Communion St Hugh’s Choir

10.30am Sung Eucharist The Nave

Access to the Nave of the Cathedral will be restricted between 9.30am and 12.30pm to those attending the above service.

3.45pm Choral Evensong & Procession St Hugh’s Choir

All are welcome.

The Cathedral will be open to visitors between 12.30pm and 3pm, the Nave of the Cathedral remains open to visitors until 5pm.

The Chapter and community of the Cathedral wish you all a very Happy and Holy Easter.

 

23 April 2019 – Funeral Service

11am

Dr Tim Wallis RIP

Access to St Hugh’s Choir will be restricted, between 10am and 12noon to those attending the above service.

 

28 April 2019 – St George’s Day – Scout Parade

2pm

Access to the Nave of the Cathedral will be restricted between 1pm and 4pm to those attending the above service. The east end of the Cathedral remains open  to visitors.

Please note that there will be access and parking restrictions in uphill Lincoln to accommodate the parade.

 

11-12 May 2019 – Lincoln Grand Prix
This year’ Lincoln Grand Prix will take place Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May . Although the route does not take in Minster Yard there will be road restrictions in up-hill Lincoln, so please be aware if you are planning to visit the Cathedral.
