The Association was formed in April 2017, following the merger of the Lincoln Cathedral Choir Association with the Old Choristers’ Association. LCCOCA represents and brings together choir parents, adult members of the choir and former choristers. The composer Dr John Rutter CBE is the Honorary President of the new Association, and we hope to welcome him back to Lincoln in the near future.
Membership of the Association is open to old choristers, parents of children who are currently singing in the choir, and friends of the association, who may be parents of old choristers, or spouses, family members or friends.
The Association is run by a small elected committee, and its membership is elected at the annual general meeting of the Association. Committee membership is currently as follows:
Chairperson Vacant
Secretary Dr Nikki Waddie (Friend of the Association)
Treasurer Mr Ian Waddie (Cathedral congregation rep)
Social Secretary/Events Officer Mrs Sarah Buttler (Choir Parent)
Choral Scholar Representative Thomas South
Old Choristers’ Representatives Dr Laurence Oliver (Old Chorister/Music Council Rep) and Mr John Parry (Old Chorister)
Cathedral Chapter The Revd Canon Nick Brown , Precentor of Lincoln
Cathedral Music Department Mr Aric Prentice, Director of Music
The committee’s main role is organising fundraising for activities beyond those provided for by the Dean and Chapter, awareness raising and social events for the current choir and the wider Association membership. Committee members also support the day to day running of the choir in any way that they can. Offers of assistance from the wider membership are always welcome!
