JUST WORLD: How does God call us to balance the interests of people and planet?
Drawing on Catholic social teaching, what is the common good approach to the conflicting interests of environmental crisis and social injustice?
Alison Milbank is uniquely placed to bring a creative viewpoint on the present crisis. As professor of Theology and Literature at the University of Nottingham she brings a wealth of expertise and is well-versed in the Catholic social thought tradition. She has written widely on the Catholic imagination, and on creation and beauty in Tolkien’s and Chesterton’s vision.
As Priest Vicar and Canon Theologian at Southwell Minster, a parish church cathedral, Alison brings deep pastoral knowledge, and as co-founder of the Save the Parish movement, she brings grounded experience of the relationship between the church and local communities. Alison is the author of many books, the latest of which is The Once and Future Parish (SCM, 2023).
