You and your whole family can be sure of a warm welcome and a great day out at Lincoln Cathedral!
To make sure every member of the family has fun, you’ll find fun activities and information around every corner as you explore the Cathedral. At the welcome desk you can pick up an exciting themed backpack, full of activities to enjoy as you explore the Cathedral. For younger children, there is an activity trolley with books, dressing-up, puppets, and much more!
The Discovery Centre is an unmissable hands-on experience that is enjoyable for all ages. Get hands-on in the Discovery Centre with activities for everyone to enjoy! Try your hand at being a stone mason and build a giant arch! Parents, grandparents and toddlers love the cosy play corner, and who doesn’t love dressing-up?
Every school holiday we host much-loved themed family arts and crafts in the Learning Centre, all of which are free with admission. And don’t forget, children aged 16 and under visit free with a paying adult.

Three Gifts Competition
17 November – 8 December
Take part is a creative activity that will get your imagination running wild.
You can choose from one of the three templates for your Gold, Frankincense or Myrrh design and get to work creating a beautiful piece of art that’s perfect for the festive season. Either collect your design from one of our help desks in the cathedral or print them off yourself with the button below.
You can decorate your design in any way you’d like, just cut out the jar, write your name, age and contact details on the back of the image, and hand in your Three Gifts Artwork to the Welcome Desk by midday 8 December 2023. Alternatively, you can post your entry to Education Team, Chapter Office, 4 Priorygate, Lincoln, LN2 1PL
The Three Gifts competition will be judged by Cathedral Staff. There are two prize categories: under 5’s, and 5yrs to 16yrs. Both winners will receive a £10 Cathedral Shop voucher and will be notified by Monday 13 December 2023.
Nativity Crafts
Saturday 9 December, 10am – 3.30pm
Join us in the Learning Centre on 9 December for a variety of Nativity crafts and activities! Help us create our Nativity mural, make a Christingle orange craft sparkly stars, and visit our stable themed corner.
You can also join us for storytelling at 11am and 2pm in our cosy Nativity corner.
All our activities are free with admission and children can visit the Cathedral for free with a paying adult If you gift aid your admission you can return for free for the next 12 months!
‘Science’ by Luxmuralis
Tuesday 12 to Saturday 16 March 2024
Following sell-out shows in February 2023, Luxmuralis is back with Science; an immersive show which is designed to enable people to explore and contemplate the contributions of science and human understanding of the physical world around us.
The installation will see the cathedral transformed into a fully immersive artwork exploring Chemistry and Biology and interprets artistically the scale of molecules cells and DNA as well as exploring the history of science, the contributions of science to humanity, and offers a reflection upon famous scientists past and present.
Time slots: 7pm, 7.15pm, 7.30pm, 7.45pm, 8pm, 8.15pm, 8.30pm, 8.45pm, 9pm, 9.15pm, 9.30pm
