Families are invited to come to a special event at Lincoln Cathedral to commemorate the Easter story with art & crafts, storytelling sessions and more.
The free event (with suggested donations) takes place on Friday 12th April from 10am-4pm, and welcomes children and parents to the Nave of the Cathedral to observe Holy Week and enjoy a wide range of activities.
Lincoln’s Rhubarb Theatre team will be on hand to lead guided storytelling and drama sessions, where visitors of all ages can play a part in ‘The Easter Story’. These special performances will take place at 1.15pm and 3pm, followed by a themed active worship.
Families will also have the opportunity to enjoy story time sessions, take part in an ‘Easter Story’ quiz trail as well as various arts & crafts activities. Visitors can inscribe thoughtful messages and images on wooden eggs which will be added to the Cathedral’s Easter tree, make stained-glass crosses and feathery hand cockerels, enjoy themed art with Kirsty Dring, create their own Easter crown, and knead dough and make a bread plait to bake at home.
Sally Bleasdale, education outreach officer at Lincoln Cathedral, said: “Easter is a very important time at the Cathedral, so we’re really looking forward to welcoming families and celebrating the holiday with lots of fun activities that will also teach children about the Easter Story and its significance.
“There will be plenty to do throughout the day and we hope you can join us!”
The event is being facilitated by Lincoln Cathedral Connected, a project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund with the aim to improve the Cathedral’s setting and visitor experience.
