Lincoln Cathedral has announced its family activities for October half term. From Monday 23 to Sunday 29 October 2023 there will be crafts, interactive shows, and exhibitions to appeal to all ages.

Highlights from the week’s October half term at Lincoln Cathedral include the opportunity to meet the Teach Rex Dragons in the Chapter House on Wednesday 25 October, Storytelling by Rhubarb theatre on Friday 27 October, a Laser show as part of the Frequency Festival on Saturday 28 October and a traditional carousel on the Dean’s Green from Friday to Sunday.

Alongside these events, there will be craft activities from Monday to Friday in the Cathedral learning centre where children can help to complete a giant monster 3D collage, create concertina dragons, make marvellous monster masks and design their very own monster badges. From Tuesday 10 October through to Tuesday 7 November the Cathedral is also hosting ‘The English Cathedral’ a photographic exhibition with images of the 42 English Cathedrals by Peter Marlow which celebrates the beauty of these historic and iconic buildings.

Samantha Mellows, Director of Visitor Experience and Enterprise at Lincoln Cathedral said, “This half term we really have got a bumper programme of activities and event for everyone to enjoy. We’re seeing more families than ever making use of their annual pass to enjoy free return visits to the Cathedral, and that combined with free entry for children aged 16 and under means people can enjoy an affordable, fun, family day out.

“Lincoln is such a vibrant city and we’re pleased to be working with our partners across the city to create a fantastic programme of events this half term, both for people living in and near Lincoln and those visiting from further afield.”

The Cathedral is also hosting installations as part of the city-wide Frequency Festival which is running at various venues across Lincoln from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 October. On the Saturday there will be interactive digital displays including the Fabuloso Organ, light boxes and digital xylophones, in the Dean’s Green and on the Parvis between 4pm and 9pm. There’s also the ‘Polaris’ laser show in the Chapter House on Saturday evening.

Watching over all this activity from the roof of Exchequergate Arch will be ‘Arcus’. He’s one of eight monsters taking over the city and will be there until Sunday 29 October. He and his friends will be illuminated during the evenings.
