Youth & Virtuosity: Haydn and Mendelssohn

Join us on Thursday, June 5th, at 7:30 PM for an extraordinary evening of classical music within the majestic setting of Lincoln Cathedral. This unique concert brings together exceptional talents from both sides of the Atlantic, offering a program that bridges continents and generations.
Program Highlights:

Mendelssohn’s Octet in E-flat Major, Op. 20
The first half features a rare collaboration between the UK’s acclaimed Piatti Quartet and the US-based Opus 76 Quartet. Together, these two ensembles will perform Mendelssohn’s youthful and exuberant Octet, a masterpiece that showcases intricate interplay and vibrant energy.
Haydn’s Symphony No. 104 in D Major (“London”)
In the second half, the Youth Symphony of Kansas City, comprising over 400 talented musicians in grades 5–12 from the Greater Kansas City area , will present Haydn’s final symphony. Known for its grandeur and elegance, the “London” Symphony is a fitting tribute to the city’s rich musical heritage.

Youth Symphony of Kansas City (YSKC):

Piatti Quartet:
As the Resident Quartet at Kings Place, London, the Piatti Quartet is renowned for their profound musical interpretations and lyrical warmth . Their international acclaim includes performances across major venues and broadcasts worldwide.

Opus 76 Quartet:
Hailed as “one of the Premier String Quartets in the US,” Opus 76 is celebrated for their energetic interpretations of classical masterpieces and commitment to music education .
