Advent and Christmas Services

Advent Procession
Saturday 30 November, 6pm

This annual service starts the countdown to Christmas and the beginning of our spiritual preparation for this great festival. The service takes us on a journey through the Cathedral, as we remember God’s promise to us, fulfilled through Mary, that Christ would come into the world.

Lighting of the Lincoln Peace Light at Evensong
Sunday 1 December, 3.45pm

The theme of light is a strong element of the Advent season, and in this service we will kindle the Lincoln Peace Light that will be maintained in the Morning Chapel throughout the Christmas Season, and from which organisations can light their own peace lights as a symbol that Christ is shining brightly in our communities.

Carol service
Friday 6 and Saturday 7 December, 5.30pm

Join us in St Hugh’s Choir when our usual service of Choral Evensong will have a festive feel with Christmas carols supporting our daily worship.

After Hours – Sacred Space
Sunday 22 December, 6.45pm

Join us for a special Sacred Space session as we enjoy a quiet preparation for Christmas.

Sacred Space is a gentle and reflective service with time to wonder, the opportunity to use all your senses to explore faith and the chance to experience the unique and serene atmosphere of the Cathedral as the day draws to a close.

There is no charge to attend, and there will be simple refreshments from 6.45pm, and will begin at 7pm.

Carol services

Our much-loved Christmas services of lessons and carols mark the start of Christmas for many families in Lincoln and beyond, and anticipate the great Christian celebration of the incarnation at Christmas.

Carols for Families
