Lunchtime Recital – Lincs Effect

‘Sweet Byrd Song’ – Exploring all things feathered in choral music.
Birds are seen throughout choral music and composers regularly turn to avian inspiration, both for their libretto and music, whether it is the wonder of flight or the beauty of birdsong.

Join our choral scholars for a recital of music about, inspired by, and sometimes even imitating blackbirds, nightingales, owls, chickens and more.

The programme will include:
“Il est bel est bon” by Pierre Passereau
“The Goslings” by J. Frederick Bridge
“The Silver Swan” by Orlando Gibbons
“Hope is the thing with feathers” by Christopher Tin
“Wagtail & Baby” by Ginny Strawson
“Blackbird” by Beatles
“The Bluebird” by Charles Villiers Stanford
A selection of pieces by William Byrd
A selection of pieces by Madalena Casulana
“Le chant des oiseaux” by Clement Jannequin

Taking place in our Nave, this recital is free with your admission.
