Lincoln Cathedral is a film friendly location, and has featured in a number of productions for television and film.
We have experience in hosting productions of all sizes, from TV documentaries and dramas, to large film productions with a cast and crew of hundreds. We work alongside local partners to support location crews wishing to film in the area. Â
Star-studded
Lincoln Cathedral has hosted a number of feature films, most recently Napoleon, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Joaquin Phoenix, which is due to be released in November 2023.
Previous filming has included Netflix production The King with Timothée Chalamet, Young Victoria written by Julian Fellowes with Emily Blunt in the lead role, and the Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
TV productions have included:
- The Grand Tour (Amazon Prime) with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May
- Songs of Praise (BBC)
- Bargain Hunt (BBC)
- Heritage Rescue (Discovery Channel) with Nick Knowles
- Britain’s Most Historic Towns (Channel 4) presented by Dr Alice Roberts
- Susan Calman’s Grand Day Out (Channel 5)
While the cathedral is often the centre-piece for filming, there are a number of properties adjacent to the cathedral which may also be used for filming or location services.Â
