Peter Hennessy, Lord Hennessy of Nympsfield, announces the context of today’s Lecture.

Lincoln Cathedral is delighted to welcome the acclaimed author, and Peer of the Realm, Lord Hennessy of Nympsfield, for his lecture ‘Writing the history of one’s own time’, to be held in the Chapter House of Lincoln Cathedral on Friday 20th May at 7:30pm.

Lord Hennessy shares with us his experience of researching and writing a book about current history.  His book, “The Silent Deep: A History of the Royal Navy Submarine Service”, co-authored with James Finks, was released in December last year, and gives a unique insight into the history of the Royal Navy Submarine Service (RNSS) since 1945, and was written with the cooperation of the RNSS and privileged access to documents and personnel.

Peter Hennessy is Attlee Professor of Contemporary British History at Queen Mary University of London, and sits in the House of Lords as an independent crossbench peer. His lecture promises to be both insightful and fascinating.

Tickets for the event will be £6.00
