The Bishop of Lincoln is pleased to announce Tony Little as Chair of the Cathedral Council.
Tony served as a Lay Canon of Lincoln Cathedral from 2015 until St Hugh’s Day last year when his three year term ended. He succeeds Tony Worth CVO, who died in November 2017.
Tony has a strong background in education as a teacher and most recently as head of Eton College from 2002 to 2015. He begins his role at an important time in the governance of Cathedrals in the Church of England and for Lincoln Cathedral, with significant changes to the way Cathedrals are governed and managed expected to come into place in the coming years. Lincoln Cathedral is also in a period of significant change, which major building works underway to provide excellent visitor facilities, and a significant emphasis on issues of social justice and community support.
The Bishop of Lincoln, the Rt Revd Christopher Lowson said: “The Dean and I are very grateful indeed to Tony Little for agreeing to chair the Cathedral Council, and for the gifts and experience he will bring.”
The Cathedral Council duties are to further and support the work of the Cathedral, spiritually and temporally, pastorally, evangelistically, socially and ecumenically, reviewing and advising upon the direction and oversight of that work by the Chapter.
