Over the past couple of years the cathedral has worked hard to improve safeguarding practice, and the progress made with this at a local level has been recognised in a number of audits and reviews. In this process the cathedral has benefitted greatly from independent, external advice, support and scrutiny – including voices of those who have been directly affected by past failings. We continue to work with the independent Chair of the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel, and hope that, working with others, we will be able to continue to improve the way that the church learns from them at a local level.
