Magna Carta forms an important symbol of liberty today, often cited by politicians and campaigners, and is held in great respect by the British and American legal communities, Lord Denning describing it as “the greatest constitutional document of all times, the foundation of the freedom of the individual against the arbitrary authority of the despot”

Lincoln Cathedral owns one of only four remaining original copies of the Magna Carta, originally issued in 1215 and it has been reprinted here with the kind permission of the Dean and Chapter of Lincoln.

This is a facsimile of the Lincoln Magna Carta has been replicated onto parchment paper and measures approximately 44cm square.
