Of all the Lincoln organists, William Byrd is arguably, the greatest musician that the Cathedral has known – or is ever likely to know.  He is regarded by those who choose to enter the realms of Renaissance music of the middle and late sixteenth century as one of the four greatest musicians of the period.

Honywood Press is named in honour of Michael Honywood (Dean of Lincoln, 1660-1681) whose notable benefactions to the Cathedral included both the building of the Wren Library and much of the unique collection of rare books and manuscripts that it houses.
