Welcome to Lincoln Cathedral!

Consecrated in the 11th century, Lincoln Cathedral has welcomed people through its doors for almost a thousand years.  It is one of the great Cathedrals of the world, attracting visitors of all ages and nationalities.

The Cathedral is first and foremost a place of worship and pilgrimage.  The daily offering of prayer and praise, enriched by wonderful music, beats at the heart of the Cathedral’s life.  Our services are open to all, and our welcome extends to people of all faiths and none.  We are also a popular attraction for visitors to the city, and host a range of events throughout the year.

Whatever your reason for visiting the Cathedral, please be assured that you will receive a warm welcome.

Peace Doves by Peter Walker
Over the summer around 12,000 people shared messages of peace, love and hope. One person’s prayer may feel small, but as they come together in a flock of doves soaring above the nave of the Cathedral, you sense the tangible presence of a deep movement towards peace. The installation is accompanied by music composed by David Harper, adding to the unique atmosphere found in our Nave.
Peace Doves will be on display until 14 November 2024.
